Hidden House
Somerset
“We have worked with Ed and his team for over 3 years. They planted our challenging new garden on a Herefordshire hillside and have worked tirelessly to bring it to where it is today. The whole team are a joy to have around and leave the garden looking stunning every month.”
Ian, Somerset
The planting at hidden house needed to offer seasonal interest while maintaining a sense of calm and cohesion with the wider pastoral setting. A blend of herbaceous perennials and grasses were used to create a woven, cohesive effect, capturing the movement of the wind, creating waves of shifting light and form. Scattered Kilmarnock Willows are used throughout the meadow as a unifying element with the distant solitary trees and work well with the fertile, loamy clay soil. Steering away from bold floral displays gave the perfect opportunity to focus on scent. Winter Honeysuckle, Sweet Box, and Bog Myrtle were chosen for their subtle beauty and evocative perfume.
Nestled into the hillside, Hidden House earned a RIBA regional award in 2023.
